The Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! anime is officially returning for a second season this July, bringing a mix of familiar faces and new characters into its unique, lighthearted version of the franchise.
Alongside the release window, Kadokawa also revealed the main visual and confirmed a significantly expanded character lineup for the upcoming season.
A Bigger Cast Joins the Spin-Off
The second season continues to build on the charm of the first by introducing more characters from the main series into its chibi-style world.
Among the confirmed additions and returning appearances are:
- Ango Sakaguchi
- Lucy
- Francis
- Louisa
- Fyodor
- Nikolai
- Sigma
- Poe
- Mushitarō Oguri
- Saigiku Jōno
- Tecchō Suehiro
- Michizō Tachihara
- Teruko Ōkura
- Genichirō Fukuchi
This expanded roster shows that the new season is aiming to cover a wider portion of the Bungo Stray Dogs universe, including characters that became more prominent in later arcs.
Main Cast Returns
The core voice cast from the original anime will also return, maintaining the identity fans are already familiar with.
- Yūto Uemura as Atsushi Nakajima
- Mamoru Miyano as Osamu Dazai
- Yoshimasa Hosoya as Doppo Kunikida
- Sumire Morohoshi as Kyōka Izumi
- Kenshō Ono as Ryūnosuke Akutagawa
- Kishō Taniyama as Chūya Nakahara
Keeping the same cast is especially important for a spin-off like Wan!, since much of its appeal comes from seeing these characters in a completely different tone while still feeling authentic.
Production Staff and Direction
The production team also returns with some adjustments.
Toshihiro Kikuchi is back as director, continuing his work from the first season, with Yūdai Hanaoka joining as assistant director.
Tōko Machida takes over series composition, replacing Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, while Hiromi Daimi returns as character designer.
Additional staff includes:
- Color Design: Azusa Sasaki
- Art Director: Hibiki Nagatomo
- Music: Taku Iwasaki
- Sound Director: Kazuhiro Wakabayashi
The anime continues to be produced by BONES and Nomad, maintaining the same creative base that handled the previous season.
A Different Side of Bungo Stray Dogs
Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! is not a direct continuation of the main storyline. Instead, it focuses on comedic, slice-of-life moments with the characters presented in a smaller, more playful style.
This approach allows the series to explore interactions and situations that would not normally fit into the more serious tone of the main anime.
The result is a completely different experience, where familiar characters behave in unexpected and often humorous ways.
About the Manga and Franchise
The spin-off manga, created by Kanaineko, launched in 2015 and currently has multiple volumes published.
Meanwhile, the original Bungo Stray Dogs series, written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa, has been running since 2012 and continues to expand its story.
The anime adaptation has also grown significantly over the years, with multiple seasons and a theatrical film, building a strong global fanbase.
Global Streaming Confirmed
The second season of Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! will be streamed by Crunchyroll across multiple regions, including North America, Europe, Latin America and other territories.
This ensures that the new season will be accessible to a wide international audience as soon as it airs.
