The Toronto Comic Arts Festival 2026 is set to welcome a diverse lineup of manga creators, highlighting both established and emerging talent from Japan.

The event will take place on June 6 and 7 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, located at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Battan Confirmed as Featured Guest

Among the announced guests is Battan, known for works such as And Then There Were No Heroines and Run Away With Me, Girl.

In addition to attending the event, Battan also illustrated the official festival poster, which will be available for purchase during the event.

MINT Project Artists Join the Lineup

The festival will also feature several creators participating in the Manga International Network Team (MINT) Project, an initiative aimed at promoting new manga talent globally.

The confirmed artists include:

  • Keita Katsushika, creator of Higashi Tokyo Machimachi
  • Marco Kohinata, creator of Akari
  • Tokushige Kawakatsu, creator of Yasegaman no Setsu
  • Moka Onmae, creator of Good Morning, Good Night, and See You Tomorrow

Some of these works are also gaining international releases, with English editions scheduled through publishers like Glacier Bay Books and Seven Seas.

About the MINT Project

The MINT Project is part of the Japan Creator Support Fund, organized by the Japan Publishing Industry Foundation for Culture.

Its main goal is to support early-career manga artists and help expand the global reach of manga by showcasing a wider range of storytelling styles and voices.

By bringing these creators to international events like TCAF, the project helps connect artists directly with new audiences.

TCAF Continues to Highlight Manga Talent

The Toronto Comic Arts Festival has built a strong reputation for spotlighting international creators, especially within the manga industry.

Previous editions of the event featured notable names such as Kamome Shirahama, creator of Witch Hat Atelier.

This ongoing focus on manga reflects the growing global demand for Japanese storytelling and artistic styles.

What to Expect From the Event

Attendees can expect panels, signings and opportunities to interact directly with creators.

Events like TCAF offer a rare chance for fans to engage with artists, learn about their creative process and discover new series.

With a mix of experienced and rising creators, the 2026 edition aims to showcase both established works and fresh perspectives.
