Yokoso Scooby-Doo! Anime Officially Announced as Scooby and Shaggy Head to Japan

The legendary mystery-solving franchise Scooby-Doo is officially entering the anime world with the announcement of Yokoso Scooby-Doo!, the first original anime adaptation in the franchise’s history.

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation in collaboration with Japanese studio OLM, the series will follow Scooby-Doo and Shaggy on a chaotic supernatural adventure set entirely in Japan.

The announcement immediately drew global attention from both anime fans and longtime followers of the iconic Hanna-Barbera franchise, marking one of the most unexpected crossover projects in recent animation history.

Scooby and Shaggy Unleash Chaos in Japan

According to the official synopsis, Scooby-Doo and Shaggy travel to Japan in search of the ultimate food adventure. However, things quickly spiral out of control after the duo accidentally unleashes hundreds of mythical monsters across the country.

To stop the supernatural chaos, they receive help from:

  • Daisuke-Doo, Scooby’s uncle
  • Yume, a magical girl
  • Takumi, a gadget genius

Together, the group embarks on a brand-new mystery filled with monster hunting, comedy and anime-inspired action.

The First Official Scooby-Doo Anime

While Scooby-Doo has experimented with numerous art styles and reboots throughout its decades-long history, Yokoso Scooby-Doo! marks the franchise’s first official anime production.

The series is being directed by Itsuro Kawasaki, known for projects such as Lady Jewelpet, while production services are being handled by OLM, the studio behind major franchises like Pokémon and Yo-kai Watch.

Classic Voices Return

Longtime franchise veterans Frank Welker and Matthew Lillard will reprise their roles as Scooby-Doo and Shaggy, respectively.

Their return helps preserve the familiar chemistry that has defined the duo for generations, even as the franchise moves into an entirely new stylistic direction.

Streaming and Release Information

The anime will stream exclusively on Tubi in North America, while international distribution will be handled by Cartoon Network.

At the moment, Yokoso Scooby-Doo! still does not have an official premiere date.

A Bold Reinvention for a Legendary Franchise

According to Tubi executives, the anime aims to reinvent Scooby-Doo in a bold new way while still preserving the mystery-solving spirit and comedic chaos that made the franchise iconic.

The project also reflects anime’s growing influence across global entertainment, as more Western franchises embrace Japanese animation aesthetics and storytelling styles.

Scooby-Doo Enters a New Era

With monsters roaming Japan, anime visuals and an entirely fresh setting, Yokoso Scooby-Doo! may become one of the franchise’s most unique adaptations yet.

For anime fans and mystery lovers alike, the legendary Great Dane is officially ready for his biggest stylistic transformation ever.
