Hunter x Hunter Volume 39 Confirms Release Date in Japan

Fans of Hunter x Hunter have received another highly anticipated update, as the release date for Volume 39 of the manga has officially been announced.

The upcoming volume will continue collecting the latest chapters from Yoshihiro Togashi’s long-running series, which has remained one of the most influential shonen manga of all time despite its well-known publication breaks.

Volume 39 is scheduled to be released in Japan on September 4, 2026.

The new volume will continue the story's current succession contest arc, one of the most complex and ambitious storylines in the franchise. Set aboard the massive Black Whale vessel, the arc follows a deadly struggle between the princes of the Kakin Empire as they compete for the throne while hidden conspiracies and supernatural powers threaten everyone involved.

The recent chapters have further expanded the political intrigue, Nen battles, and interconnected storylines involving Kurapika, the Phantom Troupe, the Kakin royal family, and numerous other factions operating behind the scenes.

Created by Yoshihiro Togashi, Hunter x Hunter first began serialization in 1998 and has become one of the most successful manga series in history. The story follows Gon Freecss and his friends as they explore a world filled with Hunters, dangerous creatures, powerful Nen users, and countless adventures.

Despite its irregular release schedule, the series continues to maintain a passionate global fanbase eager to follow the developments of its intricate and evolving narrative.

The release of Volume 39 marks another important milestone for the franchise as the Succession Contest Arc continues unfolding.
