Diablo Immortal Update Adds Auto-Battle, Legendary Affixes and Major PvP Improvements

Diablo Immortal is getting a major update this week, bringing new systems, gameplay changes and quality-of-life improvements that impact both PvE and PvP.

The patch is scheduled to roll out globally by Wednesday, and while it introduces new Legendary Affixes, the real highlights are the new features designed to improve progression and competitive balance.

New Legendary Affixes Expand Build Options

One of the key additions in this update is a new set of Legendary Affixes, which will begin dropping at Inferno XII difficulty and above. These new modifiers are designed to give players more ways to customize their builds, adding more depth to endgame progression.

The variety of affixes available means players will have more flexibility in how they approach combat, especially at higher difficulty levels where optimization becomes essential.

Auto-Battle System Arrives

The most talked-about feature in this update is the introduction of Auto-Battle, which unlocks once players reach level 60.

When activated, this system allows your character to automatically fight enemies in the surrounding area, essentially handling basic combat for you. However, there are strict limitations in place. Players can only use Auto-Battle for one hour at a time and up to 24 hours per week.

This feature is clearly aimed at more casual players or those with limited time, offering a way to make incremental progress without constant manual play. That said, it’s intentionally less efficient than active gameplay, and while you can tweak settings like potion usage and health thresholds, it’s designed as a support system rather than a replacement for playing the game yourself.

Battleground Mode Gets Draft System

Another major change comes to Battleground mode, introducing an open captain selection system aimed at improving matchmaking balance.

When all players in a match are at Legendary rank or higher, a special “Legendary Duel” scenario can trigger. In this situation, the two highest-rated players become team captains and take turns selecting three teammates each through a draft system, with a limited time window for each pick.

This change adds a layer of strategy before matches even begin, allowing teams to build more balanced compositions rather than relying entirely on random matchmaking.

Cross-Region Matchmaking Expands

To further improve PvP experiences, cross-region Battleground matchmaking is being expanded across regions including SEA, Japan, Korea and Oceania. This should help reduce queue times and create more competitive matches across a broader player pool.

Cycle of Strife Improvements

The update also introduces changes to the Cycle of Strife, particularly within the Rite of Exile system. A new hidden matchmaking system has been added, allowing leaders to uncover matchups using scouting points earned through weekly activities.

Additionally, the requirement for victories in week 7 has been reduced from four to three, which is expected to increase participation and make the competition more dynamic overall.

New Season and Additional Content

Beyond the core features, the update also includes several additional content drops:

  • Challenge Rift Season 18 runs from May 4 to June 17, adding 50 new floors
  • Floors 731 to 750 are being adjusted to be more accessible
  • A new Battle Pass launches on May 7
  • The Legendary Gem drop pool will refresh on April 29
  • Damage reduction is being increased in PvP

A Patch Focused on Accessibility and Competition

Overall, this update clearly aims to balance accessibility and competitive depth. Features like Auto-Battle make progression more approachable, while changes to matchmaking and PvP systems push for a more structured and competitive environment.

With multiple systems being updated at once, this patch stands out as one of the more impactful updates for Diablo Immortal in recent months.
