The World Trigger manga will once again pause its serialization, as creator Daisuke Ashihara takes a break due to health concerns.
The announcement confirms that the series will skip the upcoming issue of Jump SQ., originally scheduled for May 2, and is now expected to return in the July 2026 issue, releasing on June 4.
Another Break in an Already Irregular Schedule
This is not the first time the series has faced interruptions.
World Trigger has developed a pattern of irregular releases over the years, largely due to Ashihara’s ongoing health issues. While the breaks are usually short, they have become a recurring part of the manga’s schedule.
In 2025 alone, the series already took multiple pauses, including a two-month gap early in the year and additional one-issue breaks later on.
Even at the beginning of 2026, the manga had to skip an issue for the same reason, showing that the situation remains consistent.
A Long History of Health-Related Hiatuses
The situation goes back much further than recent delays.
In 2016, the manga entered a long hiatus due to Ashihara’s physical condition, only returning in 2018. Shortly after, it transitioned from Weekly Shonen Jump to Jump SQ., where it continues today with a slower and more flexible schedule.
This move allowed the author to continue the story while better managing his health, even if it meant less frequent chapter releases.
Despite Delays, the Series Keeps Its Audience
Even with its irregular schedule, World Trigger has managed to maintain a loyal fanbase.
The series is known for its tactical combat, detailed power systems and strategic battles, which set it apart from many other action manga.
Because of that, readers tend to stay invested, even when chapters take longer to arrive.
Anime Reboot Project Adds New Momentum
At the same time, the franchise continues to expand in other areas.
The recently announced World Trigger Reboot Project will re-adapt the story from the beginning, covering major arcs such as the Border Enlistment Arc, Large-Scale Invasion Arc and B-Rank Wars Arc.
This project is being produced by Toei Animation and is described as an upgraded version of the original first season, which could help bring new attention to the series while the manga continues at its own pace.
A Franchise That Continues to Grow
Since its debut in 2013, World Trigger has expanded beyond manga into anime and stage adaptations.
The anime has already released multiple seasons over the years, while stage plays have adapted several story arcs, showing how the franchise continues to evolve despite the manga’s slower release rhythm.
What Readers Should Expect
For now, readers can expect the manga to return in early June, assuming no further delays occur.
While the hiatus may be disappointing, it follows a pattern that fans have become familiar with, where breaks are necessary to ensure the author can continue the series in the long term.
Given the complexity of the story and the creator’s situation, the slower pace has effectively become part of how World Trigger is released.
