STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT has officially confirmed its Western release schedule for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch.
According to the latest announcement, the rebooted version of the legendary visual novel will launch on October 29, 2026, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch in Western regions.
The Xbox Series X|S and PC versions via Steam will launch earlier on August 20, 2026.
Originally developed by MAGES. and Nitroplus, STEINS;GATE is widely considered one of the most influential visual novels ever created, becoming internationally famous through both its original game and anime adaptation.
STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT revisits the original story with fully revamped visuals, updated presentation, and newly added narrative content while preserving the core science fiction storyline that made the original release so iconic.
The story follows Rintaro Okabe, a self-proclaimed mad scientist who accidentally discovers a way to send messages to the past using a modified microwave. What initially begins as a bizarre experiment quickly spirals into a dangerous conflict involving time travel, conspiracy, and catastrophic changes to reality itself.
The reboot will feature Japanese voice acting alongside multiple text language options, including English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.
Physical editions have also been confirmed for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch, including a special SteelBook edition.
STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT launches on August 20, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S and PC, followed by the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch versions on October 29, 2026.
