The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World is officially returning for a second season.
A newly launched official website confirmed that the anime adaptation based on Nana Mikoshiba’s fantasy light novel series will premiere in October 2026.
The announcement also revealed the returning cast, updated staff lineup, and a major studio change for the production.
Season 2 Moves to Studio Zero-G
One of the biggest changes for the new season is the animation studio.
While the first season was produced by Cloud Hearts, Season 2 will now be animated by Zero-G.
Despite the studio transition, several major staff members from the first season are returning.
Masahiro Takata will once again serve as:
- Director
- Series composition writer
- Script supervisor
- Sound director
Additional scriptwriters for the new season include:
- Tomoko Shinozuka (returning from Season 1)
- Takahito Ōnishi (Whisper Me a Love Song, My Happy Marriage)
Meanwhile, Mariko Kawamoto (Magica Wars) joins as the new character designer, replacing Makoto Shimojima.
Main Cast Returns
The core voice cast from the first season is also returning for the sequel.
Confirmed returning cast members include:
- Junya Enoki as Ray White
- Iori Saeki as Amelia Ros
- Akira Sekine as Ariane Olgren
More characters and additional casting details are expected to be revealed closer to the anime’s October premiere.
A Fantasy School Series With a Hidden Powerhouse
The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World follows Ray White, a seemingly average student who enrolls at the prestigious Arnold Academy of Magic.
Despite appearing clumsy and unremarkable, Ray secretly hides his true identity as one of the world’s strongest magicians: the legendary Iceblade Sorcerer.
The story blends fantasy academy action, magic battles, and lighthearted school-life moments while slowly uncovering Ray’s past and the political tensions surrounding powerful sorcerers.
Original Novel and Manga Background
Nana Mikoshiba originally launched the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in October 2019.
The light novel version later debuted in July 2020 with illustrations by Riko Korie.
The manga adaptation by Norihito Sasaki launched through Magazine Pocket in June 2020 and officially ended in January 2024.
The manga’s 16th and final collected volume shipped in April 2024.
Kodansha USA Publishing releases the manga in English.
Season 2 Could Benefit From the Studio Change
While the first season gained attention for its fantasy action and overpowered protagonist setup, some viewers criticized the production quality and pacing during its original run in 2023.
The move to Studio Zero-G may give the sequel a chance to improve visually while maintaining the same core creative direction behind the scenes.
With the main cast and director returning, Season 2 appears focused on preserving the identity of the original adaptation while hopefully refining its execution.
