Throne and Liberty Unveils The Frozen Divide Expansion
After teasing the expansion earlier this month, Throne and Liberty has officially revealed full details about The Frozen Divide, the game’s next major expansion arriving on June 25.
The update looks like one of the MMO’s biggest content drops yet, bringing a massive frozen region called Nix, a brand-new weapon class, progression overhauls, additional co-op dungeons, and several quality-of-life improvements aimed at reshaping the overall player experience.
And this is only the beginning, since even more content is already planned for July and August.
Nix Is the Largest Region Added to the Game So Far
The centerpiece of The Frozen Divide is Nix, a huge frozen land filled with ancient civilizations, icy valleys, and towering mountain ranges.
According to the developers, this will be the largest region ever introduced in Throne and Liberty.
To support exploration across the harsh environment, the expansion introduces new vertical traversal mechanics that allow players to climb mountains and descend into deep frozen areas throughout the map.
The focus on verticality appears to be a major evolution for exploration compared to previous regions in the game.
Level Cap Increase and New Dungeons
The expansion also raises the level cap to 60, opening the door for stronger builds, new progression paths, and tougher content.
Players will also gain access to two new co-op dungeons designed around the expansion’s frozen setting.
While the developers have not fully detailed the encounters yet, they confirmed more PvP-focused announcements will arrive during the first week of June.
That means additional large-scale competitive content is likely still waiting to be revealed.
The Gauntlets Become Throne and Liberty’s New Weapon
One of the biggest gameplay additions is the introduction of the Gauntlets, a hybrid tank and DPS weapon class.
According to the official description, the weapon focuses on mobility, survivability, and aggressive melee combat.
The Gauntlets feature two distinct combat approaches:
- A heavier stance focused on durability and powerful strikes
- A more aggressive mode centered on speed and rapid combo attacks
In its offensive form, the weapon transforms into clawed gauntlets designed for relentless close-range pressure.
The class seems built for players who enjoy flexible frontline combat instead of fully committing to either pure tanking or glass-cannon DPS roles.
Major Progression and Itemization Changes Are Coming
Beyond new content, The Frozen Divide also introduces substantial changes to progression systems.
The developers specifically highlighted what they described as a “major evolution” for itemization.
According to the announcement, the new systems are designed to:
- Give players more control over gear progression
- Improve build customization
- Make high-end rewards feel more meaningful
- Reduce frustration within upgrade systems
The Path of Ascension system is also receiving updates, alongside multiple quality-of-life improvements focused on reducing progression friction.
Housing systems and lifestyle content are receiving adjustments as well, though exact details remain limited for now.
More Major Content Arrives in July and August
The June 25 launch is only the first phase of the expansion roadmap.
In July, players can expect:
- A new Archboss encounter
- Additional Codex content
- New gear rewards
- A brand-new Battleground mode
- Expanded Dimensional Trials support
Then in August, the developers plan to release what they describe as a completely new type of Colossus encounter unlike anything currently in the game.
The August update also includes:
- Castle Siege improvements
- Tax Delivery updates
- Additional gear and Codex rewards
The Frozen Divide Could Be a Turning Point for Throne and Liberty
Between the new region, class, progression overhauls, and upcoming large-scale content roadmap, The Frozen Divide feels positioned as one of the most important updates since Throne and Liberty launched.
The expansion appears heavily focused on improving long-term progression while simultaneously adding more variety to both PvE and PvP gameplay.
Now the big question is whether these system changes will successfully address some of the progression frustrations players have discussed since launch.
Either way, June is shaping up to be a major month for the MMO.
