The upcoming original anime film GROTESQQQUE has officially revealed its first major cast lineup ahead of its theatrical release in 2026.
Directed by Atsushi Nishigori and produced by CloverWorks, the project continues attracting attention due to its ambitious concept, unique visual style, and the high-profile names involved in its production.
The newly announced cast includes a mixture of veteran voice actors, musicians, actors, and members of the idol group Nogizaka46. While character roles have not yet been revealed, the cast lineup includes:
- Chika Anzai

GROTESQQQUE was originally announced during Anime Expo under the working title Grotesque, but later received its finalized title and additional production details.
The project is not a single continuous story. Instead, it will be presented as an omnibus anime film made up of three separate stories set in completely different worlds.
The three segments are titled:
- ÆLIENS
- 4649GIRL
- NOCTURNE: NUIT GROTESQUE
The film also serves as one of the major original projects connected to JOEN, the creative company formed through a partnership between CloverWorks, WIT Studio, Shueisha, and Aniplex.
Atsushi Nishigori is handling directing, screenplay work, and character designs for the film. He is best known internationally for his work on DARLING in the FRANXX and The IDOLM@STER.
With its unusual structure, diverse cast, and original storytelling approach, GROTESQQQUE is already shaping up to be one of the most unique anime film projects scheduled for 2026.
The movie is set to premiere in Japanese theaters in 2026.
