Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You Anime Releases Mini-Episodes Ahead of July Premiere

The upcoming anime adaptation of Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You has released a collection of special mini-episodes ahead of its official television premiere in July 2026.

The short episodes are now available on Crunchyroll and serve as an early introduction to the characters, atmosphere, and unique charm that have helped the original manga become one of the most acclaimed romantic slice-of-life series of recent years.

The mini-episodes offer fans additional moments featuring the series' central duo while showcasing the relaxed, character-driven storytelling that defines the franchise.

Based on the manga by Jinushi, Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You follows Sasaki, an exhausted office worker who finds comfort in his brief interactions with Yamada, a friendly supermarket cashier. One day, after missing his usual visit to the store, he encounters a mysterious woman named Tayama in the smoking area behind the supermarket. Unbeknownst to him, Tayama and Yamada are actually the same person.

The series has been praised for its mature cast, grounded romance, subtle humor, and realistic portrayal of everyday life. Rather than focusing on dramatic conflicts, the story explores the growing connection between two adults through quiet conversations and shared moments.

The anime is being produced by Asahi Production and is scheduled to begin its regular broadcast in Japan in July 2026.

The release of the mini-episodes gives fans an opportunity to experience the tone of the adaptation early while building anticipation for the full series debut.
