Daybreak Game Company and parent company EG7 appear to be expanding their MMORPG development operations once again with the creation of a brand-new Canadian studio called Ravenwake Games.
The new team is based in Vancouver, Canada, and according to official information already published online, the studio will help support several major MMORPG franchises currently under the Daybreak umbrella.
Ravenwake Games Officially Appears Online
The studio’s official website quietly went live recently, describing Ravenwake Games as:
“A Vancouver-based game studio dedicated to building great games.”
The site also confirms the studio operates directly under Enad Global 7 (EG7), the gaming group that currently owns Daybreak and several other online gaming properties.
What immediately caught players’ attention, however, was the list of franchises directly referenced on the page.
Those include:
- EverQuest
- PlanetSide
- DC Universe Online
- Dungeons & Dragons Online
- The Lord of the Rings Online
- Magic: The Gathering Online
- MechWarrior
The wording strongly suggests Ravenwake Games will function as a support and development studio connected to multiple live-service MMORPG projects.
Daybreak Confirms Canadian Hiring Expansion
Further confirmation came from the official EverQuest forums, where Daybreak community representative Angeliana commented on the announcement.
According to her statement, one major benefit of the new studio is the ability to expand hiring operations inside Canada.
“What’s great about this news is we will be able to hire remotely from British Columbia, Canada, now.”
The comment strongly indicates the studio was partially created to broaden Daybreak’s recruitment reach and attract additional development talent outside the United States.
Open Positions Already Reference Major MMORPGs
Current job listings connected to Ravenwake Games already mention several well-known online titles.
Some of the openings reference projects tied to:
- EverQuest
- DC Universe Online
- Magic: The Gathering Online
Most of the positions also appear to be remote-friendly, continuing the industry-wide shift toward distributed game development teams.
Daybreak Continues Aggressive Expansion Strategy
The launch of Ravenwake Games is only the latest move in what has become an increasingly aggressive expansion period for Daybreak and EG7.
Over the last few years, the company has been steadily growing both through acquisitions and partnerships.
Some of the biggest recent moves include:
- The acquisition of Palia developer Singularity 6
- Funding support for EverQuest-related projects
- The reacquisition of Cold Iron Studios
- Continued investment into long-running MMORPG franchises
That ongoing expansion suggests EG7 remains heavily committed to the live-service MMO market despite broader industry uncertainty surrounding the genre.
MMORPGs Continue To Be Central To EG7’s Strategy
While many publishers have recently tried to avoid labeling games as MMORPGs, Daybreak continues to manage one of the largest collections of classic online multiplayer franchises in the industry.
Titles like EverQuest, DC Universe Online, and The Lord of the Rings Online have survived for years thanks to loyal player communities and ongoing updates.
The creation of Ravenwake Games signals that EG7 is still investing resources into maintaining and potentially expanding those long-running online worlds.
For longtime MMO players, the move also reinforces how valuable experienced live-service development teams continue to be in today’s gaming landscape.
