Starseeker Confirms June Early Access Launch While Astroneer Promises Monthly Updates Through 2026

Fans of Astroneer finally have a date to mark on the calendar. Developer System Era Softworks officially announced that Starseeker, the multiplayer-focused spin-off set in the Astroneer universe, will enter early access on June 11, 2026.

The game will launch simultaneously on PC, Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, with full support for both cross-play and cross-progression.

According to the developers, Steam Deck verification is also planned during the early access period.

Starseeker Expands The Astroneer Universe

Originally revealed back in 2025, Starseeker takes the familiar colorful sci-fi style of Astroneer and pushes it toward a more cooperative multiplayer experience.

Players will join the crew of the ESS Starseeker, working together to explore dangerous alien planets, complete massive objectives, gather technology, and survive increasingly hostile environments.

Unlike the original Astroneer, which focused heavily on sandbox survival and exploration, Starseeker introduces stronger MMO-inspired systems and extraction-style mechanics.

System Era Softworks describes the game as a cooperative experience centered around teamwork, progression, and shared goals.

Players can still explore solo if they prefer, but much of the design clearly encourages multiplayer interaction and collaborative progression.

Extraction And Cozy Survival Elements Combined

One of the most interesting aspects of Starseeker is how it blends two very different styles of gameplay.

On one side, players will deal with dangerous alien creatures, environmental hazards, and high-risk expeditions.

On the other, the game also leans heavily into cozy survival mechanics, station building, social interaction, and long-term exploration.

The result feels like a hybrid between a traditional survival crafting game and a lighter MMO-style shared-world experience.

System Era says every activity contributes to larger station-wide goals, allowing players to gradually unlock deeper layers of exploration and progression over time.

Monthly Updates Already Planned

The studio also revealed an ambitious roadmap for the game’s early access phase.

According to the developers, Starseeker is expected to receive monthly updates throughout early access, with support planned through at least 2026.

Upcoming additions include:

  • New explorable regions
  • Additional story missions
  • New points of interest
  • Expanded field operations
  • Underwater gameplay systems
  • Minigames and seasonal events
  • Dynamic weather mechanics
  • NPCs and reputation systems
  • New creatures and equipment
  • Quality-of-life improvements

The developers also plan to continue expanding the central Starseeker station itself, tying it more directly into progression and long-term gameplay systems.

No Microtransactions Planned

In an era where live-service games are increasingly filled with premium currencies and aggressive monetization, System Era Softworks made one point very clear.

Starseeker will not launch with microtransactions or premium cash-shop currency.

The studio confirmed the game will follow a simple “one price for everything” approach.

That said, optional cosmetic supporter packs will still be available through storefronts like Steam.

The game will launch at a price point just under $30 USD.

Astroneer Isn’t Going Anywhere

Alongside the Starseeker announcement, System Era also reassured longtime fans that support for the original Astroneer will continue.

The studio confirmed that Astroneer itself will keep receiving monthly updates through at least the end of 2026.

The biggest milestone on the horizon is a special free anniversary update planned for later this year.

The update will celebrate the game’s 10-year anniversary since its original early access debut.

System Era Is Betting Big On Long-Term Support

Between Astroneer’s ongoing support and Starseeker’s live-service roadmap, it’s clear that System Era Softworks is heavily investing in the future of the franchise.

The studio appears to be evolving the Astroneer universe into something much larger than a traditional survival sandbox.

Whether Starseeker ultimately becomes more of an MMO, extraction game, or cooperative survival platform remains to be seen, but the project is already generating strong attention thanks to its mix of social gameplay, exploration systems, and consistent update plans.

For players looking for a multiplayer sci-fi experience that mixes cozy exploration with larger shared-world progression, Starseeker may end up becoming one of the more interesting early access launches of the year.
