Ms. Isshiki Wants to Know About Love Anime Reveals Main Cast and January 2027 Premiere

The upcoming romantic comedy anime Ms. Isshiki Wants to Know About Love officially revealed its first teaser trailer alongside new cast details and a release window for early 2027.

Kadokawa confirmed that the anime adaptation of Ayune Araragi’s manga will premiere in January 2027.

Main Cast Revealed

The teaser video introduced the two lead voice actors for the series.

  • Riko Akechi as Isshiki Rinna Milford
  • Shūichirō Umeda as Meishi Rokutanda

The anime follows an unusual romance between two adults who are surprisingly inexperienced when it comes to love.

Isshiki Rinna Milford is an elite police officer who joined the force at just 17 years old. Despite her intelligence and serious personality, she has absolutely no understanding of romance.

Meanwhile, Meishi Rokutanda is a clumsy and scatterbrained detective whose awkward nature makes him equally inexperienced in relationships.

Together, the two slowly stumble into romance while trying to understand what love actually means.

The anime is being directed by Kazuya Komai, known for work on titles like BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad and Tenjho Tenge.

Animation production is being handled by Sakura Create.

Character designs are being handled by Shōhei Hamaguchi.

Additional newly announced staff members include:

  • Prop Design: Noriyasu Murata
  • CG Director: Satomi Nakajima
  • CG Production: Studio Twinkle
  • Color Key Artist: Akiko Saito
  • Art Director: Yasutada Kato
  • Director of Photography: Daisuke Horino
  • Editing: Yūsuke Ueno

About the Original Manga

Ayune Araragi originally launched the manga in Kadokawa’s Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine back in June 2020.

The series has steadily grown its fanbase thanks to its mix of awkward adult romance, workplace comedy, and surprisingly wholesome character interactions.

Kadokawa released the manga’s ninth compiled volume in October 2025.

The series is also officially licensed in English by Yen Press.

A Different Kind of Romantic Comedy

One of the biggest appeals of Ms. Isshiki Wants to Know About Love is how it approaches romance through adult characters who are emotionally inexperienced despite their professional lives.

Instead of focusing on typical high school misunderstandings, the story plays with the awkwardness of two working adults who are completely clueless about dating.

The teaser already highlights that balance between comedy and sincerity, with both leads looking equally uncomfortable whenever romance enters the conversation.

With strong staff members attached and a genuinely charming premise, the series could become one of the more refreshing romantic comedy anime arriving in Winter 2027.
